My Story
I am a Puerto Rican early career librarian recently graduated from the School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin. I have two endorsements of specializations, in Digital Humanities and in Cultural Heritage Management. I also earned my English Bachelor's degree and Museum Studies certificate at the same university.
Throughout my graduate studies, I have focused my coursework on digital stewardship, collection management, and cultural heritage institutions, while also expanding my knowledge of Latin American Studies throughout my professional experiences. My professional goals are geared towards increasing access and diversity through community engagement and digital stewardship.
Throughout my time at UT Austin, I have completed three internships: with the Art and Art History Collection, the Landmarks public art program, and the Library of Congress. I have also worked at the LLILAS Benson Latin American Studies and Collections, and UT Libraries in general, for almost four years in a variety of capacities. My work has been largely hands-on experience in digital asset management, metadata, data processing, and digital scholarship. In my current position as UT Libraries Digital Preservation Coordinator, I manage our long term preservation tape archive and support a variety of digital preservation and born-digital archiving practices.
